Professional Development Trainings

  1. Bridging Differences: Cultural Awareness in the Workplace

Bridging Differences: Cultural Awareness in the Workplace is an interactive professional development training designed to strengthen cultural awareness, understanding, and respect among employees from diverse backgrounds. Participants will explore how culture, personal experiences, values, communication styles, and unconscious assumptions can influence workplace interactions. Through meaningful discussion and practical activities, participants will increase their awareness of cultural differences while learning how to communicate respectfully, challenge stereotypes, recognize bias, and appreciate the unique perspectives that individuals bring to the workplace. This training moves beyond simply recognizing differences by encouraging participants to build bridges through curiosity, empathy, respect, and intentional communication. Participants will examine practical strategies for navigating cultural misunderstandings, reducing assumptions, and fostering stronger professional relationships. The goal is to create a workplace culture where differences are not viewed as barriers, but as opportunities to learn, connect, collaborate, and grow together.

  2. Leading with Impact: Effective Leadership in Urban Settings

Leading with Impact: Effective Leadership in Urban Settings is a dynamic professional development training designed to equip leaders with the knowledge, awareness, and practical skills needed to effectively lead individuals and teams within diverse and complex urban environments. The purpose of this training is to strengthen participants’ ability to lead with cultural awareness, emotional intelligence, adaptability, accountability, and purpose while recognizing the social, organizational, and community factors that can influence the workplace. The goal is to help leaders move beyond simply managing people to inspiring, developing, and positively influencing those they lead through effective communication, relationship building, conflict resolution, and sound decision-making. This training is important because today’s urban organizations often serve diverse populations and employ individuals with varied cultures, experiences, perspectives, and needs, requiring leaders who can successfully navigate differences while maintaining high professional standards. Participants will leave with practical strategies for building trust, strengthening teams, addressing workplace challenges, and creating an organizational culture where employees feel respected, supported, accountable, and empowered to succeed.

  3. Transforming Intensity: Introduction to the Nurtured Heart Approach

The Nurtured Heart Approach (NHA) is an evidence-based, relationship-focused methodology designed to help children, youth, and adults with intense or challenging behaviors thrive. Rather than relying on traditional behavior modification, rules, or punishments, this transformative philosophy views intense energy as a powerful fuel for greatness. This professional development course introduces practitioners, educators, and clinicians to the core framework of NHA. Participants will learn how to strategically shift relational energy away from negative behaviors and systematically cultivate a deep, expanding reserve of resilience known as Inner Wealth.

  4. Cultivating a Positive Work Environment

Cultivating a Positive Work Environment is an engaging personal and professional development training designed to help participants understand how their attitudes, behaviors, and interactions contribute to workplace culture. Through interactive discussion, an icebreaker, and the FISH! Philosophy, participants will explore practical tools for creating a more positive, respectful, and productive workplace. The training will also provide strategies for dealing with difficult coworkers, maintaining professionalism during challenging interactions, and recognizing behaviors that contribute to workplace negativity. Participants will be challenged to replace toxicity with kindness by practicing respect, empathy, accountability, and positive communication. Most importantly, the training emphasizes personal responsibility and encourages participants to shift the environment by becoming a catalyst for change. Guided by the principle, ‘Be the change you want to see in the world,’ participants will leave empowered to make intentional choices that strengthen relationships, improve workplace morale, and contribute to a healthier organizational culture.

Mental Health Professional Development Trainings

  1. Mental Health and Its Effects on Children

Untreated childhood mental health conditions can have lasting effects on development, relationships, education, and overall well-being. This training examines common childhood mental health disorders, their long-term impact, and the value of early identification and intervention. Participants will explore treatment options, review data comparing treated and untreated outcomes, and identify family-centered resources that support children and caregivers.

  2. Understanding the Divide: Mental Health and Substance Use Across Ages

Generational differences can shape how people understand mental health, substance use, recovery, and help-seeking. This training explores perspectives across six generations—from Traditionalists to Generation Alpha—to strengthen communication, improve service delivery, and reduce barriers to care. Participants will build generational competence that supports stronger engagement and more effective therapeutic relationships.

  3. Domestic Violence: The Silent Killer

Domestic violence is a critical public health crisis affecting millions of individuals each year, often hidden by fear, stigma, and barriers to reporting. This training provides a comprehensive overview of abuse dynamics, highly vulnerable populations, and the factors that can prevent victims from seeking help. Participants will develop practical and clinical skills to recognize behavioral warning signs, respond appropriately to disclosures, follow intervention protocols, and connect individuals with essential community resources.

  4. Crisis De-escalation and Behavioral Intervention

Effective crisis de-escalation is a vital competency for professionals in behavioral health, education, healthcare, and community service settings. This advanced training equips participants to recognize escalating behaviors early, reduce tension safely, and apply strategic interventions before safety is compromised. Through an evidence-based framework, participants will examine the stages of a behavioral crisis, strengthen clinical communication skills, and implement structured intervention plans that protect safety while preserving dignity, autonomy, and mutual respect.

  5. Trauma-Informed Care

This training introduces the principles of trauma-informed care and the profound effects trauma can have across the lifespan. Participants will examine how trauma affects the brain, behavior, relationships, and overall health while developing strategies to create environments grounded in safety, trust, empowerment, and healing. The course emphasizes recognizing trauma responses, avoiding re-traumatization, and applying trauma-informed practices in behavioral health, healthcare, education, and community settings.

  6. Cultivating Psychological Safety and Resilience in Behavioral Health Organizations

Behavioral health professionals work in high-stress, emotionally demanding environments where organizational culture directly affects employee well-being, staff retention, and clinical outcomes. This professional development training gives leaders and frontline staff actionable tools to strengthen workplace relationships, improve cross-functional communication, and create psychologically safe environments. Participants will assess systemic contributors to burnout, practice collaborative conflict-resolution methods, and apply evidence-based emotional-intelligence strategies. By building a culture of mutual respect and structured accountability, organizations can reduce workforce fatigue, improve retention, and elevate patient care.

  7. Ethics, Boundaries, and Professionalism in Behavioral Health

Maintaining strong ethical standards and clear therapeutic boundaries is essential to safe, effective behavioral health practice. This training provides practitioners with a practical framework for navigating ethical dilemmas, managing interpersonal boundaries, and upholding professional standards. Participants will examine core ethical principles, consider the legal and clinical implications of dual relationships, and develop strategies that support professional integrity, objective decision-making, self-reflection, and risk management for both practitioners and clients.

Faith-Based Trainings

  1. The Dialectics of Faith: Balancing Acceptance and Spiritual Transformation in Clinical Practice

In both clinical psychology and faith-based counseling, practitioners frequently navigate the tension between accepting a client’s current reality and facilitating radical behavioral change. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) provides a premier evidence-based framework for balancing acceptance and change. This continuing education course explores the profound theoretical overlap between DBT dialectics and theological principles (such as grace and truth). Designed for behavioral health professionals working with faith-integrated populations, this training equips clinicians with the skills to ethically adapt DBT core modules—Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness—without compromising spiritual or clinical integrity. Through case studies and theoretical synthesis, participants will learn to utilize dialectical strategies to reduce psychological distress while honoring the client's spiritual framework.

  2. Competent To Care: Foundational Counseling Framework for Church LeadershipComing Soon

An 8-Week Training Course for Pastors, Ministers & Church Leaders

Competent to Care: Foundational Counseling Framework for Church Leadership is an eight-week training course designed to equip pastors, ministers, ministry leaders, and other church leaders with foundational counseling knowledge and practical helping skills for responding to the emotional, relational, spiritual, and mental health concerns frequently presented within ministry settings. While church leaders are often among the first people individuals turn to during times of crisis, grief, family conflict, trauma, or emotional distress, many have received limited formal preparation in counseling principles. This course helps bridge that gap by integrating foundational counseling concepts, ethical ministry practices, mental health awareness, and biblically grounded principles of care.

Throughout the eight weeks, participants will develop skills in active listening, effective communication, establishing appropriate boundaries, recognizing signs of mental and emotional distress, responding to grief and trauma, supporting individuals experiencing crisis, and understanding the importance of confidentiality and ethical decision-making. Particular emphasis will be placed on helping church leaders understand the scope and limitations of pastoral care, including recognizing when a concern exceeds their level of training and requires referral to a licensed mental health professional or other appropriate community resource. Participants will also explore the distinction between spiritual concerns and clinical mental health needs while learning how faith and professional mental health services can appropriately complement one another.

The goal of Competent to Care is not to transform church leaders into licensed therapists, but to help them become better-informed, ethically responsible, compassionate, and competent first-line helpers within their ministries. By combining practical counseling skills with biblical principles of compassion, wisdom, discernment, and service, participants will be better prepared to provide supportive care while protecting both the individuals they serve and the integrity of their ministry.

Competent to Care: Because caring requires compassion but effective care also requires knowledge, wisdom, boundaries, and the ability to recognize when additional help is needed.
